HISTORY OF THE GALLERY LAING

Founded in Ahaus, Westphalia, the Laing Gallery has been showing works by important national and international artists in changing exhibitions since 2009.

From the very beginning, the gallery’s shows have been consistently focused on high-quality art of the 20th and 21st centuries in the fields of painting, sculpture, drawing and woodcut.

Otto Pankok, Per Kirkeby, Matthias Mansen, Robert Hammerstiel, Klaus Hack and Markus Lüpertz are just a few of the artists with whose work the gallery is closely associated.

In 2017 the Laing Gallery moved to new premises in Münster.

Amidst the industrial culture of the former port, which is now a hotspot for creative companies, the gallery offers visitors completely new opportunities to encounter art on 200 square metres of exhibition space in the rooms of a warehouse building from the Wilhelminian era.
