Jiny Lan
Painter and Performance artist
Born 1970 in Xiuyan, Liaoning
Lives and works in Düsseldorf
Jiny Lan is an important representative of feminist art in China, who often expresses social criticism with her works. She is native to both Europe and Asia. “I grew up in a communist country where art was only used as a decoration for politics. Living in a democracy means that I can criticize and doubt anyone in my pictures, and I do.” Jiny Lan, 2020
Jiny Lan and Dieter Nuhr work side by side in an old high-rise bunker from World War II in Düsseldorf. With the exhibition at LAING Gallery this studio community continues on a new level.
