With the art show “A Tribute to Per Kirkeby”, the Laing Gallery, previously based in Ahaus, opens its new location in the industrial port of Münster. The exhibition shows a multifaceted spectrum from the oeuvre of the Danish artist (1938-2018). In addition to large-format sculptures, paintings, monotypes and drawings, the original bronze models that Kirkeby produced on the occasion of “Skulptur Projekte Münster 1987” as a draft for the brick sculptures installed in front of the Zoological Institute are also on display.

Per Kirkeby is one of the most important contemporary artists in Europe. He was represented at the Venice Biennale in 1976 and 1980 and took part in documenta 7 in 1982. Kirkeby’s works can be found in major museum collections worldwide, including the Centre Georges Pompidou Paris; the Tate Gallery London; the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art New York, the Louisiana Museum Copenhagen and the Lenbachhaus Munich.
