The Cologne artist Jan Scharrelmann (*1975) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe and at the Academy of Art in Düsseldorf.
Already at the beginning of his art studies he developed a fascination for industrial techniques and materials, which led him to an experimental combination of materials that still covers his sculptural concept today – polystyrene cast with epoxy resin.
Scharrelmann, who likes to play with the unorthodox placement and orientation of his objects and who creates ingenious relationships between the work and its spatial presentation framework, created the wall works and sculptures shown here specifically for the exhibition at Galerie Laing.
The exhibition will be opened in the presence of the artist.
