Jiny Lan, who works in studios in Düsseldorf and Berlin, is a wanderer between worlds. She graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Zhejiang, China, before she emigrated to Germany in 1995. In her often dynamic, polyphonically orchestrated paintings, Lan questions social norms in both China and Germany. She uses her sometimes explosive pictorial narratives to capture and direct the viewer’s attention. She is a fierce advocate for women’s rights, and especially for the equal perception of women artists.
The exhibition “Illuminations” shows works from the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.
