Sculptures made of wood, steel or bronze, which are not intended as abstractions, but as independent bodies formed out of themselves, are shown in the “Reflection” exhibition by Joachim Jurgelucks. Either cut from one piece of wood or built up using laminated wood, the sculptor, born in 1979, creates individual sculptures in an unmistakable formal language. All of them have a harmonious sweep, a supple line. The matt lacquered surface is created by a glazing application of paint, which the artist applies in up to twenty layers. The result is a silky surface that corresponds ideally with the character of the works.
